Traveling by ship and canoe!

The Amsterdam is certainly the right size for stability on the high seas. We have been fortunate for calm waters in the Caribbean and now traveling south through the Pacific. It has made it fun and easy to try all the sports and games aboard...or not ... if you just want to stroll the promenade or rest and read in a deck chair -- truly delightful journey so far. The Captain gives the position and weather ahead at high noon daily and we plan accordingly. And plan we must because there are so many themed dinners available that I am going to need a hat box to get my mask from the Gala, Top hat from the Moulin Rouge Dinner of Panama hat from the evening celebration of crossing through the Canal.
I had the great privilege of the chance to meet the natives of the Panamanian jungle and converse with them in Spanish in which they are schooled. So many beautiful handicrafts and lovely, people so happy to let you play with the children. I always take toothbrushes and have noticed that another guest brought crayons and paper and pencells which I will remember for next time. The canoe ride upriver is a hoot but truly the people are wonderful, inside and out. I had visited another village 5 years before and was so happy that HAL offered this opportunity again.
